I can't wait till...

You know you're life is full of good things when you find yourself saying "I can't wait till" all the time.  It's not that what is going on right now is bad.  It's just that there's so much good to come.

I commented on Happy Fit Mama's post on Monday and the the first line in my comment was "I can't wait till..." and then it hit me.  While I can't wait till school is over in August, and I can't wait till E is potty trained and I can't wait see what gender Little Nuunie is.  It's important to enjoy the moments going on right now.

Take for example, Thursday morning... (BTW, before I tell you this, I have to say that I got permission from the husband to share).

E woke up just before our alarms were set to go off and instead of getting up early (which was probably the more rational thing to do), The hubs grabbed E and brought him back in bed with us.  E promptly cuddled up with me, which I absolutely love, and was back to sleep or so I thought UNTIL...

S was getting comfortable and rolled over to fall back asleep for the that last luxurious 5 minutes of sleep when he might have broke a little wind.  He is a man afterall, this pretty much comes with the territory right?!

Anyway, E shot up out of bed and said.."Momma, daddy pooped." in his most desperate "Help him momma" voice.  When I told E that daddy was ok, he insisted.."No Momma, daddy pooped" as if I was supposed to get up and change him.  Sorry babe, I love you but no way..no how.

S and I were trying so hard not to fall off the bed laughing.  Had we, we would've lost any chance at sleep we had.

My eyes were watering with laughter and I could feel the bed shaking from S laughing.

I know..there are a lot of moments in life that "I can't wait to experience" but it is moments like this that remind us that even at 6 in the morning when you're talking about poop, life can be the most rewarding.  Enjoy those moments and let the "Can't Wait Till..." moments wait till later.

Have you ever had one of "those" moments?  The ones that you'll always remember and be sure to tell your kids about when their older?

  1. It is the little moments in our lives that we will look back upon, remember with fondness, and enjoy the memories forever. Even if they involve poop.

  2. Many of of those moments from the time my kids were babies to now (they're teens now) that still make me smile just thinking about them :)

    Fun post!

  4. That is too cute. A memory you'll have forever. Here is my favorite:

When my son was 2 1/2 he woke me up at 4 am or something crazy on Christmas. I was really irritated but got up with him and grabbed the camcorder (it was the 90s) just in case. He started playing with his sisters dollhouse and luckily I had the camera on. He looked up at me and said in the sweetest voice "I like this". I cried tears have joy all day. He hadn't spoken before that.

  5. LOL. When my son was little and he smelled "suspicious" we would check his diaper and sometimes say "it's just gas." As he got older (toddler-aged) he would say "it's just gas" whenever he passed gas so he could keep playing without the hassle of a diaper change. (And I did NOT get permission to post this).

  7. There is so much truth to this. We can spend our whole life looking for the next big thing to come along and miss all those little moments. Thanks for the reminder!

  9. So, so true! Great post. And I can say, as cliche as it is: with kids, the time seriously flies. You blink and they are grown up.

  10. ohmygosh that's hilarious!! The little ones always say the funniest things, right? It is really easy to look ahead and anticipate the future but seriously, time does fly. I've been feeling that more and more these days with my boys. It's crazy how quickly they are growing up!!

  11. SUCH a cute story!! Hahah! I have been trying to focus more on living in the moment and when I find myself saying "I wish this was over" or "I can't wait til..." I try to stop myself because life definitely goes by too fast! :)

  12. That cracks me up...even though Audrey is only 4 weeks old, I find myself looking forward to her smiles, when she can sit up, when she can join me on runs, when she makes her first art project, etc.

I want those things and yet wish time would somehow slow down. Sigh.

  13. I'm laughing out loud right now! We constantly have moments like these and our almost three year old is totally picking up a great sense of humor, she and my husband have all these inside jokes...they crack eachother up! They are the kinds of things you want to bottle-up and save forever and never forget.
