Not a day goes by..

that I'm not thankful that I have memories like this...

A year ago, I lost a HUGE part of who I am and it's never coming back.  I lost my advisor, my crier.  I lost my dad.

I could go on and on about who he was, and what he taught me but all I can do right now is reflect, wish he was here and try to keep moving ahead.

  1. I'm sorry for your loss.
You are right though. It's so wonderful to have memories. Especially when they're captured on film, and you can look back on memories that may not necessarily be as fresh in your mind as others.
I found a photo of myself with my grandparents, the other day, and, while I miss them daily, it was a great photo that brought a huge smile on my face.

  2. You're so lucky to have that kind of dad. Indescribable heartbreak to lose someone so special. The last picture of you two is so very sweet.

  5. Oh my precious angel, I am so very sorry, this made me cry big elephant tears. I don't know too many things, but I do know this, he is still with you, comforting you and surrounds you with his unconditional love and protection. Listen for him, he is all around you, especially in those quiet moments. Sending you my deepest sympathy and huge tight bear hug. xoxo

  9. Katie, your dad was a great guy. That smile and laugh and the jokes...you never knew what you were walking into when you walked into Thornton's and saw him standing there...My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family as you continue search for strength to move forward. Remember that it is OK to cry and grieve, or scream and kick and fight your way forward. Everyone's journey is different. Although he is gone in the physical, his lasting words of wisdom, jokes, work ethic, smiles, etc lives on through all of you..and even through those pictures. Thinking of you and yours.
