We got two big projects done.
1. S put the crib up.
2. My mom, sister and I made these pillows that I've been drooling over in Pottery Barn Kids. I just can't see paying $50 per pillow so I decided that they were going to be my next project.
We worked all day on them yesterday and some today and they turned out FABULOUS! I love them way more than ones at Pottery Barn. They have so much more value. There is one more that is "in the works" but since we don't have a name yet, it will have to wait till we figure out what we're gonna call her. Want to see? I think they are pinterest worthy! I'll try to walk you through the steps.
Ok, so here's what we did:
- Last weekend we bought fabric. I bought a yard of each, stuck it in the wash and ironed.
- My sister sketched out the shape of the owl, I printed the lettering out on the printer as a template and we started cutting. My mom is a way better cutter than I am so she did a lot of the intricate cutting.
- While we were cranking out shapes, my sister was "stitch witching" the letters onto our first pillow.
- Then I took over ironing duty, mom cut and my sis wanted to try out her new sewing machine so she got to assembling. (As you can see, she had help).
- Once the pillow shams were done, I stuffed (with help) with hypoallergenic, washable stuffing. It was more expensive but when it's going in a babies room it's worth the splurge.
The end result are adorable and will look great in her room. I really was excited with the way they turned out. The best part is..I really enjoy doing this type of thing and doing it with my sister and mom made it that much more special.
Next project..curtains and artwork.
How was your weekend? Did you make any memories?
They are cuter than the PB ones! I LOVE your nursery and love that you made these with your hands and your heart and not out of catalog.
ReplyDeleteThanks Lisa!
