Ok, so I know. I'm a little late doing this but I'm super excited to finally be able to show you Baby Allie's nursery. I'm pretty proud of it. I put it together with the help of my mom and sister which makes it that much more of a special place.
Throughout the past few months, I've given you glimpses of the projects that we did in there. First it was the pillows for the crib. I fell in love with chevron long before A was ever a thought. In fact, I bought the rug about two years ago when we moved in so I knew I wanted to be able to use it.
Then there was the art work. I wanted to make sure to include E in the process whenever we could and he really enjoyed painting.
And all of that went into the nursery. I bought the furniture and crib but the room was already painted from when we moved in. That was the color scheme I chose back then. Maybe..deep down I knew that one day a little girl would reside there.
- The curtains came from Target. They are supposed to be blackout but they aren't. They do, however, give the room a nice yellow glow when the sun out.
- The Rocker, which was reupholstered came from Babies'r'us. It's the rocker we had in E's room. There's a better picture of the fabric below which I found at OnlineFabricStore dot com
- The Rug came from Urban Outfitters. I know..who knew?!
E's artwork is on the right. The "M" I made using the Silhouette Cutting Machine, some vinyl and a $6 mirror from Michaels.
The three art pieces in the picture below came from the Etsy shop: Paper Plane PrintsHere's a little more:
The Owl art and Chevron Initials were made by my sister and I. We bought the canvas at Michaels when they were 50% so I think all four pieces cost $30.
The Chevron Quilt and crib sheet came from Pottery Barn Kids
The Chevron Crib Skirt was made by me but I bought the fabric at Hobby Lobby.
You can kind of see the fabric on the rocker here.
I would say..all in all it turned out pretty well. I'm especially proud of all the personal touches that went into it. Hope she grows up to appreciate it all.
So there you have it...all the DIY skills, as limited as they are..all displayed in A's room. Maybe it will help you plan for your little one's nursery.
Have you ever done any DIY stuff? Do you have a favorite part of the room?

ReplyDeleteThank you! Pin away! :)
DeleteAdorable! I love how light and bright everything feels! I need to hire you!
ReplyDeleteThanks! It really has a special feel in there. Even my husband loves it. :)
DeleteDid you reupholster the glider yourself? If so... I'm impressed. We bought one off of CraigsList for cheap, but I'd love to get it reupholstered in something a little brighter (or patterned) just to liven up the nursery. I love love love all the chevron! So cute! Baby Allie has the cutest nursery!
ReplyDeleteWe found someone to reupholster. She did a great job. I found tutorials (they might be on my pinterest boards) but ultimately I ran out of time because I'm not the best seamstress.
DeleteYou can sometimes google and fid replacement cushions too. Thank you! Good luck with your nursery. Let me know if you have any other questions!

ReplyDeleteWow!! Looks like it came out of Pinterest. Love it! Great job!
ReplyDeleteAllie's nursery is adorable! I love all the personal touches. We also made our own artwork (still have one project and a bookshelf to go) and I felt it was so much more meaningful. Your nursery really came together well, and I agree with the previous commenter, who said it looks like it came out of Pinterest.
ReplyDeleteThe room looks great! I'm still working on E's room. Shhh - don't tell him :)
ReplyDeleteI love the whole room. Yellow is my favorite color. I think I would love this as my room now. :) I especially love that you hung a piece by E. Adorable!
ReplyDeletei love it! we did gray chevron too but did lime green instead of yellow, and now added in navy blue once henry arrived :) youre so crafty!
ReplyDeleteSo, so, so cuuuute! Amazing job! :) I love grey chevron.
ReplyDeleteHow/where did you get the rocking chair reupholstered?? Our nursery rocking chair was ruined by spit-up with our first son and will need to either be replaced or reupholstered before kid #2. Would love to hear how you did that! :)
