My First 5K

I ran the Forest Park 5K on today but it wasn't my first.  It was, however, a first for someone that also ran it.  MiniE.  I could give you my race recap but I thought I'd let MiniE do it.  She has been begging to guest post for a while now.  So...take it away MiniE.

Hi Everyone!

I am so excited that mommy let me post.  It's the first step towards me renaming the blog and taking over but I digress.

Mommy and I had to get up really early to run.  Mommy put the wrong outfit on me but that's ok.

We got our number and lined up at the starting line.  I was getting nervous.  I looked around to see who the competition was and saw a little girl in the same stroller as me.  Ugh!  I mean really but it was time to focus on running.

Mommy was talking to someone and I heard her tell them about something called runners funk.  I'm not sure exactly what it is but it doesn't sound good.  I hope mommy feels better soon.

When the race started, I got in race mode and we headed into Forest Park.  Mommy did a good job pushing me despite her runners funk.  She managed to finish the first mile in 9 minutes.  I told her to keep going!  We turned the corner and all of a sudden I was in the sun.  It was so bright!  I realized I forgot my shades.  Dang it!  So I pushed mommy a little harder so that we could get up to the turn and get out of the sun.

She pushed and pushed as we went up one of the many hills on this course.  I don't know what mommy is complaining about.  I love the hills.  They are so much fun to go up and down.

Just as I was really starting to settle in to the run it was over!  Just like that.  I was proud of mommy and really excited to have finished my first 5k.  I think I'm hooked.  It was so much fun to cross the finish line.  I can't wait for mommy and I to run again.   Mommy says we're going to do the first race she ever did in two weeks.  St. Louis Run for the Hills!  I know if there's any race that can help her with her funk, that's it.

After the race, mommy talked to a fellow Oiselle Team member and I was just so pooped after the race I took a little nap but no one seemed to notice.

Mommy said she was so happy that we had gotten to spend some time together and race.  I was too.  We even took our first Sweaty Selfie together!

I love running!

How is your weekend going?  Are you racing?
