Oh man..I'm so excited for this post you have no idea. Know why? Because I get to welcome back someone who has made an appearance or two on the blog and we've collaborated again in a segment we're calling...
And to introduce it, Capt. Sean and I put this little video together!
That's right! We are demo'ing our favorite at home equipment and giving you some workouts to get you started.
So let's start with Capt. Sean's favorite. The Ab Roller. Don't underestimate this little wheel. It looks so innocent but it can deliver the best kind of pain.
Not to mention it's easy to acquire. I think I found it at Walgreens and at $20 average, you can't really go wrong. Want to see how to use it? Check out Capt Sean in this pinnable demo.
What's in your gym? Happy Monday!

I think I may revisit the ab roller. It was popular a few years ago, faded away for a while, and now, in the era of functional workouts, it is back. Always loved it though.
ReplyDeleteIt did have it's day but I'm bringing it back. :)
DeleteNo way. That little wheel is evil. You can't trick me with your fancy abs.
ReplyDeleteha! come on. Give it a try. :)
DeleteOh the ab wheel - killer burner!
ReplyDeleteand so much fun!
DeleteThis workout is so perfect for my Core Power Challenge! I may use it for one day of exercises...thanks for the idea! Will link back if I use for the challenge! :)
ReplyDeleteSounds great. Thanks!
DeleteThat is great! I have always wondered how people use the ab rollers! Now I know! I also did a video post on exercises a few days ago, it has a lot of exercises for runners that I used to make myself into the sponsored athlete I am today! Prevented a lot of injuries!
ReplyDeleteI will see if I can get my hands on an ab roller and give it a try!
yes! Do it!
DeleteI've never tried the roller - always worried I would fall flat on my face ;-)
ReplyDeleteThat's a definite concern but you can modify.
DeleteAha ha ha ha, Evil Little Wheel indeed- I will forever refer to it as that, thanks for the new name Pavement Runner! I promise you won't fall on your face- just ease into the motion and go halfway or 3/4ths till you get the hang of it. You might get a little sore, but your abs will love you for it!!
ReplyDeletetotally
DeleteWhat a fun idea! I need to try the roller now that I have a better idea how.
ReplyDeleteyou should definitely give it a whirl
Delete$20? I like cheap equipment! Now that I'm sans gym, I definitely need to invest in some at-home tools! Great post!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I actually think you can find them for cheaper at like walmart or something
DeleteI call the ab wheel the devils workout tool haha. My friend that is a trainer has one that you can put your feet in and he had me using it in plank formation. Love that thing ha
ReplyDeleteHa.. I love it!
DeleteThat little ab roller looks like fun!
ReplyDeletei think it is and challenging
DeleteThe ab roller is missing from our home gym... maybe I'll have to correct that. Always great seeing blogger spouses in the post! More Captain Sean!
ReplyDeleteThanks Axel, but that's not my spouse. :) Sean is my coworker.
DeleteI have never seen this evil looking device...hmmm I may need to invest
ReplyDeleteit's fun..worth the investment. :)
DeleteHi, do you think the ab roller is suitable for people completely out of shape? I have a 4 and 2 year old and haven't really exercised since before my first pregnancy. Really want to get rid of the belly now.
ReplyDeleteRegards,
Emma
Hi Emma,
DeleteI think it is definitely doable with the right modification. I would think about actually using it as a measurement of your progress. Start small, maybe try to go about half way down at first, than after a few weeks, push yourself a little further, all the while making sure to strengthen your core. Does that help?
