We all have those runs that turn out to be more than just feet on the pavement. They transcend... maybe it was because you dug deep, found something deep down inside that pushed you to a place you didn't know existed or maybe it was because you discovered a new route that just inspired you to keep going.
As a mother runner I have always loved the idea of running with my babies. Pushing them, talking as we went and just spending time together. That was the entire premise behind my blog and the title but when you hear these words..well you can imagine how full my heart was.
This was the first time he asked to actually run with me. E started off in the stroller, until we got on the trail. Then it was time to break out of the stroller and run. He had a pretty good stride going until he got distracted by those weeds you can blow on and they come apart (I have completely lost the name but you know what I'm talking about right?).
I will never forget how he mimicked me...pretending to be out of breathe and sucking down water. I'll never forget how he felt like he always had to be in front of me.."no me first mama"
It's little moments like this that remind me that, life right now is about creating memories. It's about forgoing the planned run in the hopes of developing a little runner. For as much as I am a runner, I'm a mother runner.
What's your favorite fitness family memory?
I love it! You are an amazing example for your children.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite family fitness moment was crossing the finish line with my mom at the PHM this year. I walked with her and was so proud that she finished the race and didn't quit!

Great story and great run! I say it over and over again, but my favorite races and runs are those with my kids.
ReplyDeleteI love this! I hope to have a little running family one day too! So sweet!
ReplyDeleteAww this is precious! I love how you are setting such a good example for you babies! It's awesome he wanted to run WITH you and he mimicked you! Love it!
ReplyDeleteI remember when my daughter went on her first run with me--a great memory. Just wait until they run a 5k or even a 10k with you. There is nothing like it. I have two 5Ks planned with my kids over the next month or two and I can't wait!
ReplyDeleteI don't have children, yet... but I look forward to this... someday:)
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful post! Your little runner is adorable!
ReplyDeleteThe great thing about kids running is how they stop and smell the roses... you want to tell them that we need to keep going, but then you realize they're right, and you're wrong...
ReplyDeleteTearing up....this has been on my minda lot lately as I run with my 9.5 month old.... I can't wait for my 1st run when she askes to get out and run. Of course if she isn't a runner that is fine but I'm guessing she will be.
ReplyDeleteRunning races with my daughter and mud runs with my son. I will never forget those special being mommy runs!
