Every Sunday we have a tradition of picking up Chinese food and I really didn't want to disrupt the groove we were in. So I went along and ate my usual. I thought I had waited long enough but once I started running, I knew I was in trouble. None of the 6 miles were pleasant. I spent most of the run burping or digesting or something painful.
UGH! Chinese does not make good run fuel |
I can't drink coffee before a run.🙈 - ShannonDempsey
Never eat a bunch of junk the night before a long run when u don't know if the porta potties on your local trail will be usable or broken and the regular bathrooms are locked! -Stallmann87
Never eat spicy Thai the day before a marathon either 😳😫😳😫 - SamanthaDeBello
Never
put fuel in your bra just because you don't want to wear a belt or
pants with pockets. It WILL chafe/cut in areas you don't want to be
chafed/cut in. - PinkMartiniOlive
Never keep your car key in your spi-belt during a half-marathon. It might fall out somewhere along the course during a Gu break and you may not realize it until after you've finished... - SunSandLove
Make sure you take your house key & not your car key when running in your neighborhood and locking your house. -ItzLinz
Even
if it means a worse start in line, hit the porta potty right before the
race. After 40 minutes in queue I was about to burst at mile 1, stopped
and it screwed with my everything. Terrible race. - RunStretchGo
Never trust a fart! LOL - RunningRachel
No soup. Yikes.... And avoid new socks. And good gahd don't cram stuff down your bra unless you enjoy bleeding.... And don't forget the pepper spray unless you want to use badass ninja skills on the damn neighborhood dogs! -MiddleAgedRunner
What lessons have you learned the hard way?
Haha! I ate sushi before a track work out once-- needless to say, it did not go well. I think it's safe to say, that any and all Asian food may or may not go over well.
ReplyDeleteNo dairy. But I also agree with everything else in this post :)
ReplyDeleteMexican. Just don't.
ReplyDeleteha! I love Rachel's.
ReplyDeleteI remember eating a burrito for lunch one day and then doing track that evening…not pretty!
ReplyDeletelol so funny! but not really if itz happening to you!
ReplyDeleteI'm usually pretty proud of my cast-iron stomach, and eating Chinese food before a run sounds like something I would have done on a dare not too long ago, but I've gotten a little wiser with age. Anyway, my lesson is: that cookie will not be good fuel for the mid point of your long run.
ReplyDeleteHaha it's always funny how you learn some of these things the hard way - I am pretty good at night with what I eat but in the morning I have to stick with coffee and carbs
ReplyDeleteHa! I've done that before. It was a bad, bad, bad, bad mistake never to be repeated again.
ReplyDeleteI really don't do well with any alcohol the night before a long run. I'm not a big drinker in general but a few weeks ago I had two gin & tonics with friends on a particularly nice evening on a patio. The next day I was so sluggish during my run, had to stop and walk for the first time in years and just generally hated life...
