The Stowaway

You've all read the stories and the recaps about Hood to Coast.  You've read about all the fun we had.  You read about some of the amazing obstacles the girls overcame to get there not to mention the ones they had to overcome ONCE they got there.

Since I've been back, I can't help but relive the fun moment by moment and just like a good movie, every time I think about it, I find something I didn't realize at the time.

Well turns out there was even more...More that no amount of thinking would've made me realize.  It took me coming home and making a revelation to find out what I'm about to tell you.

Maybe, just maybe I had an excuse for being the slowest.  Turns out......

I was carrying the youngest of all the Nuunies.  I was pregnant.  Can you believe it?!  I know it's taken me several weeks to let it sink it.

We went to the doctor last week to find out exactly how far along I was.  I was estimating about 8 weeks that would've made me about 3 or 4 weeks pregnant during Hood to Coast.

She says to me..."Well good and bad news"

I say..."Bad News First"

She says...."You're math is not so good"

I say..."That's not entirely surprising.  Good news?"

She says..."You're first trimester is essentially over"

I say (with my husband looking on with a jaw on the floor)..."So that makes me 12 weeks?

She says..."Almost..11 weeks 3 days"

Holy cow!  That means that when I was running Hood to Coast I was 7 weeks pregnant.  Oh geez!

So now that I've come to grips with it, I can start to think about what that means.  SO...here's the good and the bad...with a due date of April 2,
  • Bad - I'll still have 4 months of school left (ouch!)
  • Good - I will have most of the summer off plus I should be able to keep most of my race schedule next year.
  • Bad - My office gets moved down to the basement.  (So long craft closet)
  • Good - I might actually have something extra to fill out a bathing suit (since I will be breastfeeding).

So all in all, I'm thrilled that E's getting a little brother or sister.  It's nice to think the first trimester is already in the books (whether I knew it or not) and now we just have to get through the next few months.

I sat my final exam at 6 months pregnant... So distracting with a wriggle pot in your belly... Not to mention needing to go to the bathroom the whole time.
