That's it..
UPDATE: As of 4:30 today, we are the proud owner of a LifeSpan 3000i treadmill! I can't wait for it to get here and get setup! I figure every mile I run on it, will be a mile I wasn't able to run before! Thanks for all the encouragement and support!!
I've had it up to here. (Ok, this might be a rant more than a blog post but follow me..)
Call me impatient, call me antsy...call me whatever but I can no longer live without a treadmill in my home. Every time I try to get out for a run, something happens that keeps me in the house. There have been so many times over the past couple weeks where I could have gotten a run (even a small one) in if I had a treadmill in the house.
I've been holding off because I know that a good treadmill can be pretty costly and I don't really want to spend that kind of money right now. I have been scouring Craigslist for a good used one but have not had any luck and I'm sick of waiting.
I need options and knowing that I can run whenever I want...like now if I wanted to is something I need.
I don't feel like myself much right now. It's all about the kids, which is fine, but I need something of my own to grasp on to and running is that thing for me.
We talk a lot about priorities but I've never felt so strongly about something. Yes, I'll stay up late rocking a newborn...I'll wrangle a smelly toddler into the bathtub...I'll cook a good dinner but at some point, something has to give. I need something for "me" during the day and I don't think 30 minutes on a treadmill is asking too much but it's just not possible right now.
So I'm going to change that. I'm going to bite the bullet and invest in ME! And I think, I might be wrong, but I think by doing so, I'm gonna be a better version of myself. The version I'm happy with. The version I know I can be and more importantly, the version I WANT to be.
Wow,..not sure where that all came from. But you can see, I'm passionate about a treadmill. :) Any fine sponsors out there want to send me one?!
What? Crickets?.... That's what I thought...
Ok, I'll do it myself.
Happy Monday!
I love my Landice treadmill-- as much as I would prefer to run outside, between schedules, weather, and pollen...I end up on my treadmill the majority of the time during the week. Love that you are investing in yourself- I dont think you will regret it!
ReplyDeleteHELLS YES WOMAN!!!
ReplyDeleteYou are worth it.
xo
DO IT! Even though I had my treadmill before kids, it's been a life saver ever since. You are so worth the money!
ReplyDeleteWe don't have our second yet, but I already told my husband that when we buy our forever home (hopefully in the next year) that I want to cancel my gym membership and get a nice treadmill for at home. I'd get in a lot more runs if I didn't have to drive to the gym, especially with kiddos in tow! You definitely deserve to invest a little into yourself, and you'll be a better mommy for it!
ReplyDeleteSeriously, best purchase I made post baby! You can run when they are napping, you can run after they go to bed, or before they wake up. It will be especially helpful in winter when its too dark to run late at night or early in the morning. Your hubby doesn't have to be home and you don't have to get a sitter.
ReplyDeleteI have the Nordic Track Commercial 1750. And it has worked great. Some of the cool things it has: an iPad holder(you can stream TV), Incline and Decline(uphill and downhill training, sweet!), Android powered touch screen with Wifi and the coolest thing is the adjustable cushioning. I learned while researching treadmills that if you do a lot of running outdoors you can put yourself at risk for shin splints if your treadmill has to too much cushioning. But with the 1750 you can adjust it which is really an awesome feature. Good luck in your search and its totally worth it! :)
You won't regret your decision or investment for a second! We bought a treadmill before our 2nd was born, and it was an absolute lifesaver when she arrived. I can't tell you how many runs I did while she was occupied in her swing or bouncy seat. We even use it on the weekends too. Sometimes it's just easier for my husband and I to take turns while the girls are napping. Much more efficient than driving to the gym. We have a LifeSpan. My husband researched the heck out of it, and it's been great!
ReplyDeleteLet me say that I despise treadmills. Despise. But when my two kids were little, and I had a husband that traveled, my treadmill was my lifeline. So yes, now is the time for you to have a treadmill--well worth the investment. If you lived closer to me, I'd even sell you mine at a very big discount b/c it sits down there unused pretty much 350 days/year!
ReplyDeletegood for you, girl! hope you find a good deal on one!
ReplyDeleteYou definitely deserve it. I hope that you find a good one at a reasonable price. I would say though that it is probably worthwhile to spend a little more to get a good one. It's really an investment. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteYES! You are worth it!
ReplyDeleteYou deserve it, you are a hard working mama, and you need time for you and if that means pounding away some miles on the mill than do it!
ReplyDeleteIf I didn't have a very accessible gym I would definitely splurge -- and I do think it's one of those things you don't buy the "cheap" version of just to have one. In my opinion it would be something worth financing (oh, and try to take advantage of the Memorial Day sales going on right now!!). Good luck with your decision!
ReplyDeleteYou deserve it! Go for it!
ReplyDeleteNice! Congrats on the treadmill :)
ReplyDeleteso glad that you got a treadmill! My husband was able to snag one off craigslist for a great deal when I was two weeks post partum. it turned out to be the best investment especially since Jack was born in September and I started running just as the weather was getting cold/snowy.
