Mommy and Me: Stroller Workout

What a difference a year makes.  A year ago today I was getting ready to run Hood to Coast.  What an amazing weekend.  I had no idea I was 8 weeks pregnant. So...fast forward...

MiniE is four months old and we are fully into the swing of things.  We have quite a nice little routine going.  Fitness and Dinner fall into the 6:00 to 8:00 time frame.  While we've been getting back into the gym about once or twice a week, I don't want to be there everyday.  I'd rather try to find ways to stay fit while still getting to spend time with the kiddos.

That's why it's so nice to get out and run.  Just strap the kids in the stroller and we're off.  With E, I can run as much as 5 miles.  With MiniE, in her car seat, we usually go about 3 miles.  As she gets older, we'll try to increase the mileage but I'm happy with that right now.  Coming back from the run, I always like to try to get in a little strength/core work.  It rounds out the workout pretty nicely.

So I thought I'd share my current "go to" workout.  It's inspired by all those Stroller Striding classes that I see around that I can't seem to get to.  I just made my own.

I do each exercise for one minute each, repeat the circuit three times for a nice little 15 minute sweatfest!

Wanna see the moves demonstrated?  I took our local Fox 2 anchor through the workout this morning!  Check it out!
And if you're new to stroller running, don't miss the little tutorial I did a few months back.  You can find it here!

  1. Great workout! When I can convince my two to go for a stroller run, it always has to have a pit stop at a park. It's the perfect place to get a mini workout in and the kids can go wild. Some days they even like to join me in lunges, planks, etc!

    1. I love playground workouts. Do you ever feel like the other moms are glaring at you though? I've felt that alot lately.

  3. Looks like an awesome workout! I haven't done a stroller run in months... with Houston's heat, and now we're in the northeast but I just haven't found the right routes that are good for strollers (and have come to savor my kid free runs). But stroller runs are a great full body workout!

  4. Thanks for sharing the workout. In order to fit in fitness, I think I'll be switching from gym workouts to more walking and running with the stroller here in a few months.

  7. Love it! Put the brake on the stroller if you use them for push-ups (like in #5) everyone!

  9. I missed this one when you first posted it! Glad I found it through the Pin It Party. I'm just now starting to run with our new double stroller so this workout will be fun to include on some of the shorter runs. Thanks!
