To sort of coincide with her room (see the room decor), we went with the owl theme. I found a shop on etsy and bought a party pack and started printing. I knew I also wanted to coordinate the decor to the invitations, so I started looking at fabric at JoAnn's. With the help of my little sis, we quickly landed on these fabrics to make some runners for the food tables that would compliment the owl theme and colors well.
Every now and then I get the urge to craft and what better motivation than MiniE's first birthday. I started thinking about the fact that if the weather was nice, we would all want to go outside and I would need to pull out my old cushions..they still work, just need to be re-covered. So I bought more, enlisted the help of my mom and sister and went to work. A weekend later, we had made, three lines of bunting, a wreath, two runners, one table cloth, covered four cushions and a pillow.
Saturday rolled around and after taking E to his first real Easter Egg hunt, I put the kids down for a nap and started decorating. The great thing about hosting parties at your house is that it kind of forces you to do some of those household projects you've been dying to do so S has been super busy. :) The party was ready, indoors and out and MiniE was ready for cake. I just love the way her cake turned out, taken from a pinterest idea, it's all cupcakes, which made it super easy to distribute. The adorable little owls were the party favors, wooden and ready to color.
The rest of the decor and food just kind of came together.
But even better than all the decor, food and weather was our friends and family that came to celebrate with MiniE. Nothing makes me happier than looking around at all the love that surrounded her (and us) on this special day.
I really just wish the clock would've stopped and we would have all just hung out all day. It was great. The best part of the entire day was watching MiniE tear into her cake. At first she wasn't so sure but pretty soon she got the hang of it.
All in all, we couldn't have asked for a better day. Seriously, some of the best memories. I don't know about you but I can't even believe that was just one day?! We still haven't talked about Easter. Being parents rocks!!
