I’m very fortunate to not have to worry about them behind the wheel yet, that day will come but I do worry about the drivers around us and I am MUCH more aware of my surroundings now than I ever was when it was just me. The danger is real and we have all experienced it at some point. Whether it was the bad choice to pick up the phone while driving or you’ve seen someone texting and driving, it’s an issue.
You can take vows and commit to not driving distracted all day but when it comes down to it, just like with fitness, it takes discipline to follow through. The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the Auto Alliance want to increase awareness about the risks of distracted driving. The Decide to Drive program aims to empower drivers and passengers to speak up about distracted driving, continue the conversation at home, work and play, and reduce distracted behaviors behind the wheel.
You can head over to Decide to Drive and get involved in the discussion…you can submit your best Catch Phrase (contest runs May 30 - June 13, 20140 or Rate and Report dangerous motorists you have witnessed driving distracted. You can also be part of the conversation on twitter on May 28th 12 PM PT/3 PM ET using #DecideToDrive.

Now that my daughter is driving herself, I think about this everyday and every time she leaves the house. I see people driving distracted all the time and it is so troubling. Deborah @ Confessions of A Mother Runner
